Biography:
Dr. Samuel D. Benjamin is currently the Director of the Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine and is also Associate Professor of Pediatrics and Family Medicine at the State University of New York, Stony Brook.

Dr. Benjamin received his medical degree from the Universidad de Gudalajara and completed a residency in pediatrics and social medicine at the Montefiore Hospital and Medical Center in the Bronx, New York, where he was chief resident. Dr. Benjamin is also a licensed acupuncture specialist and incorporates complementary medicine into his practice.

Dr. Benjamin has published numerous articles on complementary and alternative medicine in such journals as Patient Care and Alternative Therapies and sits on the editorial board of Alternative Therapies in Health and Medicine, St. Anthony's Business Report on Complementary and Alternative Medicine, and Pharmacy Letter. Dr. Benjamin has given over 75 national and international presentations on alternative medicine and has appeared on numerous radio and television programs throughout the country talking about alternative and complementary medicine. Dr. Benjamin is a member of the American Public Health Association, American Holistic Medical Association, American Academy of Medical Acupuncture, American Academy of Pain Management, and the Ambulatory Pediatric Association.
