David A. Zackson, MD is a graduate of The New York University
School of Medicine and completed his medical residency and fellowships
at Montefiore Hospital and Medical Center. Dr. Zackson is currently the
Director of Calcium Metabolism, Division of Endocrinology at the New York
Hospital- Cornell Medical Center and serves in the Divisions of Endocrinology
and Nephrology. His is also a consultant in the Osteoporosis Prevention
Center at the Hospital for of Special Surgery.
Dr. Zackson's research interests are widespread and involve
various metabolic diseases including: (1) newer treatments for osteoporosis,
(2) medical treatments for hyprerparathyroidism, (3) the bone disease of
patients maintained on artificial kidney treatments, (4) the medical treatment
and prevention of kidney stones, and (5) vitamin-D deficiency bone disease,
e.g., rickets and osteomalacia.
Dr. Zackson's chief interest outside of medicine is classical
music, where he is a dedicated violinist. His violin is a lovely instrument
made in Milan by Granchino in 1657.
